By far and away the majority of minor ailments can be managed with a bit of know how. There are many good, free information sources out there to help you. Let us guide you by accessing our self help pages.
Visit the pharmacy
We are well served for pharmacies in our area of Bristol and many of these open evenings and weekends. Pharmacists are well qualified healthcare professionals with a four year degree and at least one year of postgraduate training. They are able to manage most simple conditions with over the counter medications.
Pharmacists are also trained to spot the more serious conditions and refer on when appropriate. To see local pharmacy opening times use the NHS Choices website. Opening times are updated for bank holidays.
Call NHS 111
When you need advice for a non urgent problem call NHS 111 free from a landline or mobile. Your call will be triaged by a call handler who will direct you to the most appropriate service. This may be advice, the pharmacy, a dentist, minor injuries unit, the GP out of hours services or an ambulance.
